AZUSA, Calif - Azusa Pacific narrowly fell 1-0 to Vanguard on Saturday night. 

How it Happened: A goal late in the first half was the difference-maker in Vanguard's victory over Azusa Pacific. The Cougars had a slight possession edge in the opening 45 minutes, keeping the ball 56% of the time. The two teams had a similar number of shots, with Azusa Pacific taking six and Vanguard taking five. 

In the 42nd minute, Vanguard saw a breakthrough, netting the lone goal of the match. The Cougars continued to knock on the Lions door, with Luis Solis seeing two shots on goal in the 51st and 79th minutes, and Sean Romo having a look in the 56th minute, but they were unable to convert.

Up Next: The Cougars will travel to Biola on Thursday, Oct. 16 to face their crosstown rival. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
