CLAREMONT, Calif. - Azusa Pacific track & field had a good showing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational as they continue to prepare for the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 13-15) and PacWest Championships (April 28-29) in the coming weeks which will be held in Azusa, Calif. "Pitzer was a good tune-up meet as we head towards the championship season," said head coach Jack Hoyt.Â
"It was especially a good meet for our throwers." said Hoyt. The meet was highlighted by a clean sweep on the podium in the javelin as Molly Olson claimed first (42.37m), with Luisa Fischer finishing second (41.89m) and Alysa Henry earning third (41.63m). Coming into the meet, Olson is currently ranked fourth nationally and has won the javelin event in two consecutive meets. Hannah Richardson, Kaylee Meyers and Alexa Hume also earned personal bests in the hammer throw and discus. Richardson threw a mark of 41.33m, Meyers earned a mark of 38.50 and Hume turned in a mark of 35.84m.Â
Richardson who is currently ranked eighth in the nation in the shot put also hit a mark of 12.78m.Â
Olivia Baerny, currently ranked 38th in the nation won the triple jump with a mark of 11.48m and Fischer earned a personal best in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line at 27.54. Abby Keane also turned in a good performance in the pole vault with a mark of 3.48m.Â
On the men's side, Logan Peyton highlighted the day in the field, earning second in the javelin with a mark of 58.29m. Hoyt continued, "Rylie Cabalse and Nic Acosta raced well in the 800", and Adonis Prince also had a good showing in the 400 meter dash, earning a time of 49.8.Â
