THIS YEAR:  Senior Hannah Richardson returns as one of NCAA Division II’s premier throwers and the anchor of APU’s throws group … Already an NCAA champion indoors (shot put) and national runner-up outdoors (shot put) … Is a 3-time All-American with career-bests that rank second in the shot put 16.70m (54'9.5"), fifth in the discus 50.21m (164'9"), 11th in the hammer 51.57m (169'2"), 11th in the weight throw 16.67m (54'8.25")  on Azusa Pacific’s all-time lists.


2025 (Junior):  Became APU’s tenth NCAA national champion by winning the NCAA DII Indoor shot put with 16.46m (54’0”) in Indianapolis … At the Outdoor championships in Pueblo, finished second in the shot put (16.14m/52’11½”) and advanced to the finals of the discus (46.77m/153’5”) … Named PacWest Championship Meet Women’s Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the shot put (16.29m/53’5½”) and hammer (51.57m/169’2”), and placing 4th in discus (42.31/138’10”); those 25 points helped APU capture a ninth straight women’s team title … Had season bests of 16.70m (shot put, 54’9½” at Bryan Clay Invitational), 50.21 (discus, 164’9” at Triton Invitational, elite division) and 51.57m (hammer, 169’2” at PacWest Championships) … Named PacWest Field Athlete of the Week after career days at Triton (16.52m SP / 50.21m DT) … Later recognized by USTFCCCA as the 2025 NCAA DII Women’s Indoor National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year … Opened outdoor season by winning discus (46.07m) and hammer (47.14m) at RCC; the discus also moved to No. 11 on APU’s all-time list at the time.

2024 (Sophomore):  Broke out across all three throws, winning the PacWest shot put (16.03m/52’7¼”) and placing second in hammer (46.15m/151’5”) while scoring in discus (fifth, 41.24m/135’4”) … Later finished fourth at NCAA DII Outdoors (15.48m/50’9½”) … At the NCAA indoors, finished 12th in the shot (13.42m/44’0½”) and set early-season bests of 15.54m (51’0”) to win the  shot at the Maveric Premier and 16.67m (weight) … Highlighted her winter PR surge with a win at Maverick Premier at Minnesota State.

2023 (Freshman):  Made Immediate impact in her debut season … Named PacWest Women’s Field Freshman of the Year with podiums in the discus (second – 43.79m/143’8”) and shot put (third – 13.53m/44’4¾”) and finishing fifth in the hammer (42.09m/131’8”) … Qualified to NCAA DII Outdoors in the shot put finishing 13th (14.40m/47’3”) … Earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in shot put and discus.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Prepped at California High in San Ramon, Calif., where she competed in track & field and also played basketball (varsity action during the 2021–22 season) ... As a 2022 senior, at the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) championships, finished second in the shot (35’ 9½”) and third in the discus (106’ 2”) … Went on to finish sixth in the CIF North Coast Section championships in shot (35’ 11¼”) … Qualified for the state CIF meet in the discus … As a 2021 junior, won the EBAL title in the discus (106’2”) and finished second in the shot (33’1”) … Won the EBAL shot title as a 2019 freshman (30’11”) … Had her 2020 sophomore campaign cut short by the COVID pandemic.

PERSONAL:  Birthdate is June 17 … Majoring in Nursing.
