SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Weston Ellis competed in the discus at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Saturday. Amongst a field of primarily Division I athletes, Ellis had a career day in the event.
Â
Ellis finished seventh out of 29 competitors, after he set a new career record of 51.95m (170' 5"). Not only was his mark a personal best, but it earned him a spot on the provisional qualifying list for Nationals. Ellis currently sits at No. 12 on the national list for the discus.
Â
Up Next: Ellis and his teammates will compete this week at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa (April 13-15). The 2022 installment is expected to be the largest one yet, with more than 4,500 athletes and over 500 programs set to compete at the Cougar Athletic Stadium. For those unable to attend the Bryan Clay Invitational in person, it will be streamed live, exclusively on FloTrack.Â
