Los Angeles, Calif - On Wednesday afternoon, the Cougars defeated Cal State LA on the road by way of a 5-2 set victory. This win continues Azusa Pacific's streak, making it their sixth victory in a row.
How it Happened - Playing to clinch in doubles, Azusa Pacific earned the point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. April Wong and Audrey Stewart played at No. 2 for the Cougars and came out with a 6-1 set win, while Katherine Nguyen and Carolyn Brooner took a 6-2 set victory on court No. 3.
In singles, on court No. 3, Wong took the first set 6-1, then while up 3-0 in the second set, she claimed the victory via opponent retirement. Liga was dominant once again, winning in straight sets on court No. 1 (6-1,6-2).
With the Cougars up 3-1 in the match, Nguyen won in straight sets (6-3,6-2) on court No. 6, delivering the match-clinching point. Madison Kane claimed Azusa Pacific's final point on court No. 2, winning in straight sets (6-3,7-5).
The Golden Eagles two points came from court No. 4 (6-3,4-2,WR) and court No. 5 (6-1,6-3).
With the victories on court No. 1 and No. 2 today, this improves Liga's record to 17-1 and Kane's record to 12-3 on the season.
