Azusa Pacific improves to a four game winning streak with 4-0 win

AZUSA, Calif.-- On Monday, Azusa Pacific outright won 4-0 against Middlebury College to open its week following a busy last week where the Cougars went 4-1. The team now improves to a 10-5 overall record and also 7-3 at home.

All three duos won their doubles matches to start the match. At Court No. 1, Ryan Nuno & Leyton Bohren kicked off the action with a 6-1 win, followed by Miha Velicki & Elias Walter with a 6-2 win at Court No. 2. Velicki and Walter had to battle back for their win, as the pair was down 0-2 to start the match, but came back to win six straight games to claim the doubles point for the Cougars. Ethan Smith & Sam Sippel finished out with a 6-4 win over the Panthers.

Entering the singles matches with high energy, the Cougars won three straight matches to secure the team win.

Walter picked up the first singles point for the Cougars with a 6-1 and 7-5 win over the Panthers on Court No. 3.

Nuno secured the third overall point for the team with his 6-3 and 6-2 win followed by Ivan Hornburg who clinched the win with his 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) victory.

Up Next: After playing six matches in the past eight days, the Cougars will take a four day break before returning to the court against Biola on Saturday. The match is scheduled to start at 1:30pm and will take place here in Azusa at the Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex.
