RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific (1-2) fell 15-9 in a Golden Coast Conference game against California Baptist on Thursday afternoon. Milena Guzmán Ortiz scored two goals and had two assists, as well as two drawn exclusions and a steal. Lauren Hoyle also scored two goals in the game, while Brianna Erickson had a goal to go along with two assists. On goal, Olivia Lott tallied 12 saves.

Through most of the first half, the Cougars and Lancers battled back and forth, with CBU holding a 5-4 lead with 4:46 left before halftime. The Lancers would seize some significant momentum over the remainder of the second quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 9-4 lead. Guzmán Ortiz was able to find the back of the cage just before halftime to trim the deficit down to 9-5.

In the third quarter, the two teams scored two goals apiece through the first five minutes, bringing the score to 11-7 with 2:56 on the clock in the period. The Lancers would score three unanswered goals over the remainder of the third and beginning of the fourth, growing their lead to a comfortable 14-7 margin with 7:04 remaining in the game. CBU would score once more over the remaining seven minutes, while Azusa Pacific put two more goals on the board.
