Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Azusa Pacific defeated Cal State Los Angeles 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon, improving to 3-1 overall to start the season.

The Cougars began the contest with a pair of victories in doubles, grabbing a 1-0 match lead.
Petra Ivankovic and
Audrey Stewart teamed up to secure a 6-3 win in the #3 spot, and
Anna Savchenko and
April Wong followed with a 6-2 win in #2 doubles.

Wong opened up the singles portion of the contest with a two-set victory at #4, defeating Sakura Kurokawa 6-1, 6-4.
Jacky Wagner gave the Cougars a 3-0 lead in the match, as she secured a 6-4, 6-1 win over Chelsey Ruiz in the #3 spot. The Golden Eagles would score their first point of the match at #2, with Noa Davico earning a 6-2, 6-4 win against Savchenko.

Ivankovic clinched the match victory for the Cougars with a two-set victory over Amanda Schneider (6-2, 6-2), as her win put Azusa Pacific up 4-1. Cal State L.A. picked up another point at #5, and then Stewart closed out the match with the Cougars' fourth singles win of the afternoon, as she posted a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at #6.

Mark Bohren, "this is a place we have historically struggled at."
