Azusa, Calif.-- The #25 APU women's tennis team locked down their final regular season home court match Saturday afternoon against PacWest rival Point Loma at the Munson and Bavougain Tennis Courts. Finishing out with a perfect 4-0 finish on senior day, the Cougars will head into the PacWest Tournament next week with an overall 12-7 record on the season.
The day began with a swift win from court three as Cougar duo
Petra Ivankovic and
Audrey Stewart defeated their opponents 6-2. Shortly after, the tandem of
Anna Savchenko and
April Wong won at the No. 2 position to claim the doubles point for the Cougars.Â
APU entered the singles portion of the competition with a one-point advantage.
Heading into singles,
Mikayla Rinker blasted her way to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot to extend APU's lead 2-0.
Anna Savchenko stayed hot in singles as she snagged a 6-1, 6-2 win at court two.Â
A couple minutes after Savchenko's win, the attention turned to court three where senior
Kara Hinton took down her opponent 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the match for the Cougars.Â
