Azusa, Calif.-- The Azusa Pacific women's tennis team showed another strong showing at the Munson and Bavougian Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon defeating Angelo State 6-1. With the win, the No.12 Cougars advance 7-4 on the season.
The Cougars came out of the gate dominating doubles on all three courts.
Anna Savchenko and
April Wong powered their way to a 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position while teammates
Petra Ivankovic and
Audrey Stewart clinched the first point of the day with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. The tandem of
Kara Hinton and
Jacky Wagner finished shortly after with a 6-4 victory to move into singles with 1-0 on the board.
Moving to singles,
Jacky Wagner added another point on the board for APU with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot.
April Wong dropped the only match of the day 4-6, 1-6, but
Mikayla Rinker continued to claim another win for the Cougars against her opponent 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.
Kara Hinton won both sets 6-4 at the No. 2 slot while
Petra Ivankovic followed at the top spot winning both sets 6-3.
Anna Savchenko wrapped up the match with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) victory at the No. 3 spot.
