Azusa, Calif.-- The Azusa Pacific Women's Tennis Team defeated Western New Mexico Tuesday afternoon with an impressive 7-0 victory. Finishing with a perfect score from all courts, the Cougars improve 6-4 on the season. Â
The Cougars started off strong in doubles as the tandem of
Anna Savchenko and
April Wong finished strong with a 6-1 win at the No. 1 position, while teammates
Katia Betancourt and
Courtney Page followed with another 6-1 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Audrey Stewart and
Petra Ivankovic topped their opponents 6-2 at the No. 2 slot to clinch the first point of the day for the Cougars.
 APU kicked off singles with a fiery start as
April Wong started off with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 3 position. Senior
Kara Hinton won at the top spot 6-2, 6-4 while teammate
Audrey Stewart came out victorious 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 4 position.
Katia Betancourt dominated both sets 6-0 at the No. 5 slot while
Jacky Wagner topped her opponent in both sets 7-6.
Mikayla Rinker wrapped up the Cougar's perfect score of the day finishing with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot.Â
The Cougars will be back in action Wednesday, March 13 to take on Angelo State for a 2:30 p.m. match.Â
