LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Facing back-to-back nationally-ranked opponents, No. 13-ranked Azusa Pacific picked up a 4-2 win at No. 18 UC San Diego Friday.

Doubles: The tandem of
Petra Ivankovic and
Audrey Stewart started the Cougars off with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 position to begin the day and push Azusa Pacific towards winning the doubles point. The pairing of
Anna Savchenko and
April Wong wrapped up the match at the No. 2 spot with a 7-5 victory to seal the Cougars first point of the day, while
Kara Hinton and
Jacky Wagner were tied 5-5 at No. 1 doubles when the Cougars clinched the doubles point.
Singles: With a 1-0 lead entering the singles portion of the match, Wagner continued kept the Cougars on a winning streak with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 slot. After the Tritons tied the match, 2-2 with wins at the No. 2 and No. 6 positions,
Petra Ivankovic (ranked #27 in Division II singles) retaliated in the No. 1 position with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ashley Chao.
Wong clinched the match victory for the Cougars in the No. 5 spot, beating Valeria Corral in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) to seal the 4-2 team win.
Anna Savchenko split the first two sets at No. 3 singles and the match ended before her third set began.
What's Next: The Cougars remain in the San Diego area for an 11:00 a.m. match Saturday at Point Loma.
