REDLANDS, Calif. --Â After a long break, Azusa Pacific picked up its third consecutive win on the road with a 7-0 sweep against Redlands (NCAA Division III) Saturday afternoon. With the win, Azusa Pacific advances to 2-1 on the season.
Doubles: The Cougars dominated in doubles against the Bulldogs, winning all three matches.
Kara Hinton and
Jacky Wagner came out on top at the No. 1 position with an 8-4 victory while teammates
Katia Betancourt and
Courtney Page finished 8-3 at the No. 3 spot. The tandem of
April Wong and
Anna Savchenko won finished strong with an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 slot to send the Cougars into singles with the doubles point.Â
Singles: Azusa Pacific finished singles play undefeated, led by
Kara Hinton and
April Wong finishing at the No. 1 and No. 4 positions with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Audrey Stewart finished at the No. 5 slot with a 6-2, 6-1 victory while
Anna Savchenko won at the No. 2 spot 6-1, 6-3. Teammate
Jacky Wagner topped her opponent at the No. 3 position 3-6, 6-1, 10-3, while Katia Bentacourt concluded the match with a 6-7, 6-1, 11-9 win at the No. 6 spot.
