The Cougars regular season came to a close with a disappointing result as Point Loma grabbed a 5-4 win on Saturday afternoon.
With the setback Azusa Pacific closes the regular season with a 17-7 record as they look towards next week's PacWest Conference tournament in Surprise, Ariz. The official draw for the event will be released on Monday.

DOUBLES: Saturday's team contest came down to a pair of close doubles contests.
Point Loma won the first contest off the courts as Nikki Newell and Ellie Gamble posted an 8-4 win at the No. 3 position.
What happened at the top two positions proved to be critical for the final team result. Carolina Cueva and Gabi Armas notched an 8-6 win at the No. 2 slot while Toby Miclat and Petra Ivankovic gave the Cougars their team point with a hard fought 8-7 (1) win at the No. 1 spot.
SINGLES: Each team came away with three straight wins.
Azusa Pacific won the first two completed matches as Miclat walked away with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the top position then April Wong won 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 slot.
However, the Sea Lions were the winners next. They notched wins by Cueva (6-0, 6-2) at the second slot and by Shelby Groeneveld (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 3 spot.
Kara Hinton was a 6-4, 7-5 winner at the No. 4 position but Point Loma won at the sixth slot to seal the match with a Michelle Torres 6-4, 6-3 win.
