AZUSA, Calif. – Getting a bit of momentum behind them for their next big challenge.

Azusa Pacific posted their second straight 8-1 win on Wednesday afternoon against Concordia.

On Thursday the Cougars welcome Hawai'i Pacific, the nation's top ranked squad, to the foothills for a critical PacWest and West Region match.

DOUBLES: After winning the first two completed matches in mostly typical fashion, the final contest went beyond normalcy.

At the No. 3 slot Courtney Page and Mikayla Rinker won for the seventh time in the last 10 matches with a solid 8-2 victory. In the second spot Kara Hinton and Diana Baumgartnere put together their second win in 24 hours. The duo broke open a tight match by winning three of the last four games in their 8-5 triumph.

The final contest on the courts was a tightknit epic affair. With the matched tied at 6-6, each team broke serve to force a tiebreaker to decide the match. Concordia had five match points while the Azusa Pacific combo of Toby Miclat and Petra Ivankovic finally broke through on their third opportunity to win 13-11. The no-ad, eight-game pro-set took nearly two hours to complete.

SINGLES: A handful of matches were grind-it-out victories for the Cougars as they clinched the team match.

Baumgartnere played a solid all around match in posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the third slot. Azusa Pacific won the team match as Miclat battled through the first frame before cruising in the second for her 7-5, 6-0 triumph at the top spot.

Concordia grabbed their team point as Ghazel Pakbaten won 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 at the No. 2 position.

The fourth match on the courts was the last one to finish as Kara Hinton rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-3 win to post her second win in over a day. The matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions respectively played the waiting game to start but finished quickly. Page won 6-1, 6-0 then Rinker was victorious 6-1, 6-1 at their respective slot. Both contest were finished in less than an hour.
