Five Straight for 5th Ranked Cougars

LA MIRADA, Calif. – A victory that was dominating and convincing in all fashions.

Azusa Pacific was economical in posting a 9-0 win against Biola on a chilly and breezing Monday afternoon.

The No. 5 Cougars kept things rolling in singles play and mixed-up their regular line-up as they moved to 5-0 in a team match that was played quicker than an average major league baseball game.

SINGLES: The Cougars clinched the team match by the end of the six singles match. Moreover, they kept a winning streak going.

The squads played the singles contests first and the Cougars didn't drop a set as they have now won all 27 singles matches finished this season.

Oliver Frank continues to show why he is one of the best in the nation with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 slot. Jakob Schnaitter was the next match off the courts as he posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 3 position.

In his first singles action of the season Marnix Pluim notched a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the sixth spot. Ryan Nuno was next in-line for a straight sets (6-3, 6-2) win – his coming at the No. 5 slot. Moments later Ronald Kang, who has yet to drop a set this season, recorded his first win at the No. 2 position with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

The singles matches concluded with Jesse Haas recording his first collegiate singles win 6-3, 7-6 (2).

DOUBLES: The Cougars dominance was evident during the doubles portion of the match. Azusa Pacific lost just two total games.

Christian Schmid and Frank, who are the top ranked doubles team in the country, posted an 8-0 win at the No. 1 slot as did the tandem of Dillon Barnard and Roberto Luconi. For Barnard is his first collegiate victory in either singles or doubles.

Tony Pejic and Schnaitter remained undefeated in their three matches together with an 8-2 win to conclude the convicning victory.

UP NEXT: Azusa Pacific travels to Concordia at Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. match with the Eagles.
