AZUSA, Calif. – The Cougars might have a target on their back with a top five national ranking but through the early going, they are wearing it well.

Azusa Pacific won their fourth straight match to start the season with 9-0 win on Saturday against Point Loma.

DOUBLES: In matter of about three minutes the Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the match. Jakob Schnaitter and Antonio Pejic were done first at the second position with an 8-3 win. Just a moment later Ryan Nuno and Jesse Haas walked off the courts by the same score. Then, seemingly quicker than one can blink an eye, Christian Schmid and Oliver Frank also won by that same 8-3 score as their teammates.

SINGLES: Schnaitter was the first winner for the Cougars in singles play. The newcomer was precise in his 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot. Quick thereafter Azusa Pacific clinched the team match as Ronald Kang posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the fourth position.

Cougar victories continued to role off the courts. Ryan Nuno keep his opponents off balance in his 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 spot. Two minutes later Alan Leahy wrapped up his win at the No. 6 slot 6-0, 6-4. Right Leahy put the finishing touches on his victory, Oliver Frank rallied from a second set deficit to notch a 6-3, 6-4 win in the top contest.

The sweep for the Cougars was complete as Schmid rallied from a first-set defeat to post a three-set victory. He culminated the win with a 10-8 triumph in a third set super tiebreaker.

UNDEFEATED: Through the first four team matches, the Cougars have yet to lose a singles match.
