Volleyball Returns To NCAA Tournament

Azusa Pacific was selected as the fifth seed in this week's NCAA Volleyball West Regional in Bellingham, Wash., where the Cougars will face fourth-seed Cal Poly Pomona in the first round

AZUSA, Calif. -- For the second straight season, the Azusa Pacific volleyball team earned an NCAA Tournament berth, as the PacWest champion Cougars are seeded fifth in the West region, following a regular season in which the team went 24-6 overall, with a 20-2 conference record. Azusa Pacific will face the fourth-seeded Cal Poly Pomona in the first round on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 5:00 p.m., at Western Washington University.
 
Of the eight teams selected in the West region, Azusa Pacific has played five of those teams this season, including top-seed and host Western Washington, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Bernardino, Chaminade, and Cal State L.A. The two remaining teams in the West region are Cal State East Bay and Central Washington.
 
All matches in the West region will be held at Western Washington, with four matches on Thursday, Nov. 15, two matches on Nov. 16, and the regional final on Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m.
 
The first-round starts with a matchup between the third-seed Cal State L.A. and sixth-seed Central Washington at 12:00 p.m. Following the first match, second-seed Cal State San Bernardino and seventh-seed Chaminade begin at 2:30 p.m., fifth-seed Azusa Pacific and fourth-seed Cal Poly Pomona square off at 5:00 p.m., with the final match of the day between the one-seed Western Washington and the eighth-seed Cal State East Bay at 7:30 p.m.
