AZUSA, Calif. -- In its final nonconference action of the season before an eight-game run of Pacific West Conference contests the rest of the way, Azusa Pacific dropped a 2-1 decision on the road at Point Loma Saturday afternoon in San Diego.
Kennedy Christie scored in the 84th minute to cut Point Loma's lead in half, 2-1, after Rachel Curley's shot hit the crossbar and ended up at the feet of Christie for the finish.
The teams combined for six yellow cards, and one of those was a foul in the box which presented Point Loma with a penalty kick in the 25th minute. Julia Glaser scored on the penalty kick, her eighth goal of the season, and she added her ninth goal of the year just over two minutes into the second half with an assist from Ranyee Odell to push the lead to 2-0.
Point Loma finished with a 16-7 advantage in total shots, posting a 9-4 edge in the first half and a 7-3 margin in the second half. Tatum French made a season-high eight saves.
With the defeat, Azusa Pacific falls to 1-7-1 on the season and resumes the eight-game stretch of PacWest games to close out the regular season at home against Dominican on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
