AZUSA, Calif. -- Two players received Pacific West Conference weekly player awards after Azusa Pacific posted victories over Fresno Pacific and Academy of Art last week. Junior forward Emmy Koflanovich was named PacWest Player of the Week, and freshman defender Christine Messner was the PacWest Freshman of the Week.

Koflanovich was involved in all three goals during the Cougars' 3-1 win over Academy of Art on Saturday, assisting the first two before scoring the third. She was one touch away from receiving an assist against Fresno Pacific, as she initiated the sequence which led to Azusa Pacific's second goal in a 2-0 win. Her pass led Kaylee Nicoll on a run to the end line, where Nicoll assisted the goal scored by Kennedy Christie. On the season, Koflanovich is one of four players tied for second on the team in scoring with two goals, and she also ranks second on the team in points with seven (two goals, three assists).

Messner, a center back, scored the game-winning goal in the 2-0 win over Fresno Pacific on a 30-yard free kick tucked just underneath the crossbar. She also anchored a defense which recorded its third consecutive shutout in the win over Fresno Pacific and limited Academy of Art to just three shots in Saturday's 3-1 victory. On the year, Messner has two goals, and the Cougar defense has surrendered just one goal in its past four games.

Azusa Pacific is on the road for two games this week, visiting Concordia on Wednesday, Oct. 24, and Biola on Saturday, Oct. 27.
