Taking a 3-0 lead from the get-go, the No. 1 tandem of
Oliver Frank and
Antonio Pejic retired No. 12 Seth Moore and Alberto Lapierda 8-3.
Pascal Engel and
Christian Schmid followed with the second Cougars doubles win at the No. 2 spot notching No. 22 Enzo Douillic and Ezaquiel Suarez 8-4. For the second time in two days,
Marnix Pluim and
Shepherd Newcomb recorded the final doubles victory 8-6 at the No. 3 spot. Allowing the Cougars insurance going into singles leading 3-0.
Frank recorded the Cougars first singles win crushing No. 27 Lapierda 6-0, 6-0 at the No.1 spot. Pejic secured the Cougars victory over Arizona Christian while notching his 11th win of the season winning 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 position. Teammate Schmid registered a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 31 Douillic 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 slot. Newcomb came out on top winning 6-4, 6-3 at the No 6 spot. Engel won the first set 6-2, and was trailing 2-5 in the second set. He fought back winning five straight games to capture a thrilling 7-5 victory over Suarez at the No. 3 position. Pluim wrapped up the day winning 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.
The Cougars return tomorrow facing Point Loma for the second time this season at 11:00 p.m.
