Biography

2016 (fall) : Came second place at the ITA Regional Tournament in doubles while paired with junior Antonio Pejic.

2016 (junior) : In his second year at Azusa Pacific he progressed well with a singles record of 11-3; 10 of which came from the No. 6 spot… In addition to his singles record, the real highlight of the season is Newcomb’s doubles success... His 19 doubles wins was second best total on the team… Paired up with freshman Olger Van Gen for five victories at third doubles spot… Paired mostly with Christian Schmidt, where they posted a 14-2 record at No. 3 doubles... Earned PacWest Player of the Week honors one time

2015 (offseason): At the USTA/ITA Fall West Region Small College Tournament, defeated Daniel Holtz from Sonoma State, 6-3, 6-3... In the round of 16, nearly upset No. 6 seed Matt Halligan from Holy Names, eventually falling 2-6, 6-2, 1-10... At the 59th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships, won two matches in the singles qualifying consolation draw... Defeated Pepperdine's Guilherme Galvao 6-4, 6-0 in the first round and a player from USD in straight sets in the second round... In doubles, played with Olger van Gent and defeated teams from Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount both by scores of 8-5... In the main draw, got a first round win over a team from Cal Poly, 8-7(3) before losing to the eventual champions from USC.

2015 (sophomore): Recorded a 12-12 record at No. 3 doubles in his first season as a Cougar... Had a four-match winning streak with Alan Leahy that included two wins over pairings from nationally ranked teams... Defeated the No. 3 team from the top-ranked Division III team Amherst, 9-8(2).

Junior College: Played for one year at Marion Military Institute as the No. 1 singles player for head coach Charles Wright... Led the team to an undefeated conference championship.

Personal: Born on Aug. 20, 1993 in Watford, England to Sid and Linda Newcomb... Father, Sid, played tennis and basketball at John Brown University and now is the assistant tennis coach at Holy Names... Is the oldest of five children... Has two brothers, Ty and Payton... Ty also attends Azusa Pacific... Has two sisters, Tea and Glory... Is majoring in English... Enjoys writing music.
