Azusa Pacific took on the 2016 NCAA Division II semifinalist, Hawaii Pacific into the third set of the decisive match this afternoon. The Cougars put up a hard fought fight but came up short 5-4.

The Sharks took control from the very beginning winning the first two doubles matches of the day.
Kara Hinton and
Tatiana Betancourt recorded the Cougars lone doubles win 8-6 in the No. 3 slot.
Hawaii Pacific kept the winning momentum rolling into singles taking a 3-1 lead after winning in No. 1 spot.
Jackie Resler shook the sharks as she beat opponent Dos Santos in two sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5. The Sharks fought back taking the No. 2 victory, followed by two Cougar wins by No. 6 Betancourt winning 6-3, 6-2 and teammate Hinton tying things up by beating Hawaii Pacific's No. 4 6-2, 7-5.
The tension between the teams grew stronger as it came down to the third set of the determining No. 3 match-up. At the end, the Cougars comeback fell short, dropping the match in a high-intensity third set 6-3, 6-7 (7-1), 6-2 deficit.
