GLENDALE, Ariz.-- As if the red-hot Cougar women's tennis team needed any extra help, it got it from an undermanned Western New Mexico squad, which forfeited two singles matches and doubles match in Azusa Pacific's 9-0 win in Glendale, Ariz. on Saturday. The Cougars, who improved to 6-0 with its second sweep of the year, got automatic wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, and No. 3 doubles before sweeping their remaining singles matches, with Natalie Johnson keeping her record perfect on the season.

Johnson registered a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Claudia Osuna at No. 2, improving to 6-0 in her first season with the program. Emily Harris bounced back nicely from her first loss of the year with a blistering 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Marie Monier at No. 1, pushing her record to 5-1 on the season.

Kim Koetterheinrich tabbed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 against Dena Irvin to post her first singles win of the season, while Bethany Duval rattled off her third consecutive victory after beating Marissa Aguirre 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. 

In doubles play the No. 25 ranked team of Harris and Danae Ingwaldson beat Monier and Diamond Morrill 8-0, while Lindsey Yeom and Koetterheinrich defeated Osuna and Irvin 8-0 at No. 2. 

The Cougars will return to action on Monday against a Fresno Pacific team that's taken 20 of the last 21 meetings. In 2013, however, Azusa Pacific ended an 18-match drought against the Sunbirds, defeating FPU 5-4 in Azusa for the program's first win in series history.
