FULLERTON, Calif.-- For the fourth time in the last five matches, and the second in as many against Hope International, the Azusa Pacific women's tennis team recorded a 9-0 sweep on Monday. The Cougars, who had their three-match 9-0 streak snapped by Grand Canyon on Saturday, didn't drop a set all afternoon, and kept the Royals from winning a game in nine sets.
Azusa Pacific (11-3) got clean sweeps at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and singles, and allowed Hope International (1-13) to take two or more games just twice on the day. After going ahead 3-0 in doubles 17th ranked
Emily Harris clinched the victory at No 1 with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Caroline Houston, following
Stephanie Quan's 6-0, 6-0 win over Becca Roeser at No. 5.
Danae Ingwaldson followed that up by beating Jasmin Zaragoza 6-0, 6-0, and
Bethany Duval won her sixth consecutive match with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Alyssa Prtichett at No. 6.
Samantha Kaneta finished the day off with 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Jeanette Rodriguez.
In doubles Harris and Ingwaldson paired for an 8-0 win after
Kim Koetterheinrich and Duval posted an 8-1 victory. Kaneta and Quan beat Zaragoza and Rodriguez 8-0. The Cougars will return to play on Wednesday when they take on Babson (Mass.) at 1:30 p.m.
