AZUSA, Calif.-- The Cougar's women's tennis team blasted Western New Mexico on Saturday, improving to 8-2 after dropping just a set in a 9-0 sweep of the Mustangs. The Cougars got a perfect sweep at No. 1 singles, and limited Western New Mexico to less than three games in 10 sets.

No. 17 ranked Emily Harris spearheaded the effort, posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ganna Tiurina to snuff her brief two-match losing streak. The junior captain had won 24 straight matches dating back to last season. Junior Kim Koetterheinrich elevated her record to 7-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Doris Berberic, before Danae Ingwaldson sealed the Cougar victory with a three-set defeat of Ashley Newell (1-6, 6-1, 6-4).

Brejohn McCrary beat Claudia Osuna 6-0, 6-2 on court three, while Stephanie Quan won her fourth straight after tabbing a 6-2, 6-1 win over Davida Aragon. Lindsey Yeom closed singles play with a 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) defeat of Marie Monier, giving the freshman her fourth consecutive win.

In doubles Koetterheinrich and Yeom posted their seventh straight win as a team after the duo of Osuna and Monier retired (injury) with the Cougars leading 4-2. No. 10 ranked Harris/Ingwaldson notched a narrow 8-6 win at No. 1, and McCrary/Quan cruised to an 8-2 victory over Berberic and Diamond Morrill. 

Azusa Pacific, will face Hope International at home on Monday, before welcoming Hawai'i Hilo on March 4.
