AZUSA, Calif. -- It took a doubles tiebreaker, but the NAIA's No. 5-ranked Azusa Pacific was perfect for the third consecutive match, winning its third straight match by a 9-0 score with Wednesday's sweep of NCAA Div. II Colorado Mesa University.

The win extended the Cougars' overall winning streak to a season-high five consecutive matches, and it took just two hours, 15 minutes to complete the victory.

In two of the singles matches, Azusa Pacific didn't surrender a single game, including Leah Hoffee's  No. 2 singles win that pushed her individual season record to 9-0 this season.  Emily Harris registered the other 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, and every other singles match was decided in straight sets.

Hoffee teamed with Danae Ingwaldson for an 8-1 No. 3 doubles win, and Natalie McNall and Molly Ruby were victorious at No. 2 by an 8-5 score.  The only serious threat to the doubles sweep came down to the tiebreaker set for the No. 1 doubles point, but Harris and Kim Koetterheinrich scored six straight points right away and picked up the 9-8 win by winning the tiebreak by a 7-1 tally.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 9-1 overall, while Colorado Mesa falls to 7-6 on the year.  The Cougars remain home Friday to host the NAIA's No. 16-ranked Lewis-Clark State (Idaho).
