Mobile, Ala. – Fresno Pacific is peaking at the right time.
The Sunbirds are continually getting better as evidenced by their 5-0 victory over Azusa Pacific in the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women's Tennis Championship Tournament in Mobile, Ala.
It was Fresno Pacific's third win over the Cougars this year, and with each victory, the Sunbirds' dominance improved. In their first meeting back on March 4 in Fresno, the Sunbirds eked out a 5-4 win. A month later, they dumped Azusa Pacific, 6-3, in the Canyon City. Then today, they made a clean sweep, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play, before winning in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to clinch the team victory.
The win moves FPU into the semifinals where it will meet another GSAC foe in Point Loma Nazarene. The Cougars, who were making their 11
th straight NAIA Tournament appearance, have their season come to an end at 14-8
