IRVINE, Calif. -- The NAIA's No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific posted a 19-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-13 victory over unranked Montana Tech Saturday morning in the Cougars' third of 4 matches at the Asics/Crowne Plaza Labor Day Tournament hosted by Concordia.

In the opening match of Saturday's action, senior outside hitter Jill Baker helped Azusa Pacific counter a standout effort from Katie Daly, who notched 16 kills with just 1 attack error for Montana Tech. Baker tallied 15 kills and 10 digs, and she was the only Cougar in double figures in both of those categories.

After Montana Tech's Daly finished off an 8-2 run to close out a 25-19 opening-set win for the Orediggers, sophomore middle blocker Amy Alkazin helped turn the match around for the Cougars with an impressive second-set effort. Alkazin registered the opening kill in a set Azusa Pacific never trailed, and she finished the set with 5 kills in 7 attempts along with 4 block assists and an ace. Sophomore right side hitter Whittany Radcliffe also had 4 block assists in a victorious 25-14 second set.

Over the final 2 sets, Baker was practically perfect, notching 11 kills in 19 errorless attempts in 25-18 and 25-13 victories. Azusa Pacific jumped out to leads of 18-5 in the third set and 20-6 in the fourth to clinch the 4-set victory.

Alkazin finished with 8 kills and no errors in 12 attack attempts, and she tallied 6 blocks with a match-high 3 aces. Radcliffe notched 6 kills and a match-high 8 blocks, and sophomore Krista Brenner added 8 kills and 2 blocks. The Cougars served up 9 aces, with setters Raechel Jones and Sophie Burns registering 2 apiece.

The Cougars finish the 2-day tournament with Saturday's 5 p.m. finale against No. 13 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University.
