GLENDORA, Calif. -- The NAIA's No. 3-ranked Azusa Pacific posted another dominant victory, shutting out its third opponent in 6 matches with a 9-0 GSAC victory over Hope International Tuesday afternoon at Citrus College. Three of the Cougars' last 4 wins have been shutouts, with the other a convincing 8-1 road victory over No. 18-ranked California Baptist.
Senior Peggy Bell posted the most impressive win, making quick work of her straight-sets singles win, a 6-0, 6-0 blanking at No. 4 singles over Kristine Brock. Sophomore Lindsey Cloninger dropped just 1 game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles over Brittney Munoz. Bell and Cloninger were each part of 8-3 doubles wins, with Bell teaming with junior Bay Daniels at No. 1 doubles and Cloninger and doubles partner Katy Jelsma picking up the No. 3 doubles win.
With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in GSAC play, while Hope International drops to 3-4 overall, 0-4 in GSAC. The Cougars continue conference play with a 1 p.m. matchup at Concordia Saturday afternoon in Irvine.
