SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Freshman Jill Baker collected a season-high 22 kills to lead the NAIA's No. 11-ranked Azusa Pacific to a 24-30, 30-23, 30-25, 30-18 victory over The Master's Saturday night.

"It took us a little bit of time to find our rhythm and our serve receive, and just get used to the facility," said Cougar head coach Chris Keife. "Once we were able to get settled in, we really controlled the rest of the match."

Baker added 12 digs and a pair of aces, and senior Chelsea Morgan added 17 kills as 5 different Cougars registered 9 or more kills. After the first-game loss, Azusa Pacific hit at a .351 clip, tallying 55 kills with just 15 errors over the final 3 games of the match. Sophomore Kelsey Knudsen enjoyed one of her finest matches of the season, finishing with 10 kills and no errors in 17 attack attempts.

The Cougars tallied 9 service aces, including 3 from junior Brianne Huff, who added 10 kills. Azusa Pacific's leader in digs was sophomore Brittany Brown with 17, while sophomore setter Allison Kincheloe added 14 digs while setting up the Cougars' efficient offense with 58 assists.

With the win, Azusa Pacific moves into a 3-way tie for second place in the GSAC with a 5-1 conference mark, and the Cougars improve to 12-2 overall. Next week's schedule sends the Cougars on the road yet again, visiting Hope International for a GSAC match against the Royals Sept. 26 and a neutral-site non-conference clash with No. 6-ranked Missouri Baptist, then visiting No. 4-ranked Concordia Sept. 30.
