It's Just Enough

San Diego, Calif. -- It wasn't pretty, and it took a long time, but for the second straight year Azusa Pacific managed a 5-4 GSAC win at Point Loma.Nazarene.

"We didn't play that great, but well enough to win," said Cougar Coach Mark Bohren.

The bottom half of the Cougar line-up proved its mental toughness down the stretch, leading Azusa Pacific back from a 4-3 deficit. Freshmen Racquel Gottfrield and Katy Jelsma each won 3-set matches, both of which included 2-set tiebreak losses.  But both rookies came back to take 6-4 third set wins to equal the match at 4 points each and then the match winner.

With the win, the Cougars sweep the season-series with Point Loma and improve to 21-4 overall, and 14-3 in the GSAC.
