Focused in Paradise

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- A spring break road trip to Hawaii might have been a good reason for Azusa Pacific to lose focus.

Instead, the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Cougars were dialed in and knocked off Chaminade, 9-0, in Honolulu to extend their winning streak to 2 matches following their fourth loss of the season.

The Silverswords were restricted from the beginning because they could not field a full squad against the Cougars but that didn't take away from their impressive performance in the matches that did get played.

Only Bay Daniels and Peggy Bell participated in both singles and doubles play as Azusa Pacific was able to show off its depth.

With Bay and Daniels teamed with Katy Jelsma and Raquel Gottfried and picked up wins that put the Cougars quickly ahead in the match.

Their dominance continued in singles action as Jennifer Dao and Christiana Scolinos dropped only 1 game between them in sweeping aside both of their opponents.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 14-4 on the season and will return to conference action next week when they host Westmont on April 18 at 2 p.m.
