Cougars Swept Again By #4 Concordia

AZUSA, Calif. -- For the second time this season, the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Concordia executed a nearly flawless offense to score a 3-game sweep over No. 13-ranked Azusa Pacific, defeating the Cougars 30-14, 30-28, 30-25 Saturday afternoon in Azusa.

The Eagles, who committed only 12 attack errors in a Sept. 30 sweep over the Cougars in Irvine, posted a .289 attack percentage while again committing just 12 errors in the win. Concordia's Ashley Robbins finished with a match-high 12 kills in 27 attempts, while Traci Weamer added 10 kills and 11 digs for the Eagles.

Senior Chelsea Morgan and sophomore Megan Burch each had 10 kills to lead Azusa Pacific, and Burch's all-around performance included a team-high 12 digs and a match-high 4 service aces. Sophomore libero Brittany Brown added 11 digs for the Cougars.

With the defeat, Azusa Pacific drops to 19-8 overall, 11-7 in GSAC play, while Concordia improves to 23-3 overall, 15-3 in conference play to maintain a 1-game margin over No. 3-ranked California Baptist for second place in the conference standings. The Cougars are in the midst of a 3-team battle for fourth place in the GSAC, as Point Loma Nazarene (11-6 GSAC) and Biola (10-7 GSAC) square off later this evening in La Mirada.
