Cougars Swept By Sunbirds In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. -- Freshman Jill Baker's solid performance at the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Fresno Pacific was not enough to slow down the Sunbirds as No. 12-ranked Azusa Pacific was swept on the road, 30-23, 30-25, 30-26.

Baker led Azusa Pacific with match-highs of 16 kills and 13 digs, adding 3 blocks and a pair of aces. She was the only Cougar to register double figures in kills or digs.

However, 3 Fresno Pacific players posted double-digit kill numbers, led by freshman Ke Ke Wang, who collected 12 kills and a match-high 9 blocks. The Sunbirds extended their regular-season winning streak to 53 matches, which includes 35 straight conference wins.

Sophomore Megan Burch added 8 kills, senior Chelsea Morgan tallied 7 kills and sophomore setter Allison Kincheloe finished with 34 assists and 7 digs for the Cougars.

With the loss, Azusa Pacific drops to 9-6 in GSAC, 17-7 overall, while Fresno Pacific improves to 15-0 in GSAC, 23-0 overall. The Cougars return home for 4 of their final 5 matches, beginning Saturday when they host The Master's at 2:30 p.m.
