AZUSA, Calif. -- The NAIA's No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific picked up its third straight win with a 6-3 win over No. 14 Point Loma Nazarene Thursday in Azusa.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 4-1 overall, 2-0 GSAC. Point Loma falls to 2-2, 0-1.

Point Loma, which won 2-of-3 matches from the Cougars last year, was able to steal a doubles' point at No. 1 when Ashley Strimple and Anita Sieczka downed Jennifer Dao and Mayu Sato, 8-5, but the Cougars stormed back to take a 2-1 lead with wins at No. 2 and 3.

The Cougars then clinched the match with wins in 4 singles' matches, 3 of them coming in convincing straight sets. Dao defeated Strimple at No. 1, Peggy Bell downed Andrea Montoya at No. 2, and Lynn Quitoriano upended Christine Lalonde at No. 5, all of them in straight sets.
