Santa Barbara, Calif. -- A week that started in Honolulu, took the Cougars to San Diego, and ended in Santa Barbara is over. And on a good note -- finally.
Azusa Pacific snapped a 3-match losing streak and made something memorable of this week with a 7-2 win at Westmont Saturday afternoon. Yet it didn't come easy. After dropping 2 of 3 matches in doubles, the Cougars worked off the doldrums of the week and jetted past the Warriors by winning all 6 singles matches.
Jennifer Dao beat Kendyll Whiting for the second time in 5 weeks by a near identical score, this time taking 6-3, 6-1 verdict.
Mayu Sato found her legs after losing in doubles and the first set in singles to gut out a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jennifer Renfer at No. 2 singles.
With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 17-6 overall, and finishes tied for second in the GSAC at 7-2.
