Cougars Get Barried

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- In their first meeting ever, NCAA Division II power Barry University flexed its muscle to shut out Azusa Pacific, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon at the on-campus Buccaneer Tennis Center.

The Buccaneers won all 3 doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores and then surrendered just 13 games in singles play to roll to its 21st victory in 23 matches this year. Victoria Courmes recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory over APU's Christina Earnest at No. 2 singles after teaming with Maria Lopez for a Buccaneer point in a win over Brianna Hahn and Mayu Soto at No. 2 singles, an effort that best summarized the Buccaneers' overall effort for the day.

With the loss, Azusa Pacific splits its 2-match swing through Florida and has its record fall to 12-10.
