Glendora, Calif. -- It was close, maybe too close for some's comfort, but in the end, it was a win, and a much-needed one at that.

Azusa Pacific held on for dear life to beat Biola, 5-4, in a Golden State Athletic Conference match, splitting 6 singles matches to stake the victory after taking a 1-point edge following doubles play. Hephzibah Segura led the way, teaming with Marily Wise to win at No. 3 doubles and then making quick work of her singles match by beating Laura Yano without dropping a game to give the Cougars a 3-1 advantage at the time.

When Christina Earnest and Brianne Hahn picked up wins to No. 2 and 5 singles respectively, the Cougars had nailed down their match-clinching 5 points that rendered silent two long drawn-out setbacks at No. 1 and 4 singles.

The victory squares Azusa Pacific's overall record at 6-6, and is the Cougars tenth straight over Biola

"All 6 of the ladies' losses are to NAIA Top 15-ranked teams or NCAA Division I teams," said Cougar Head Coach Mark Bohren. "We have a hard schedule, but the ladies have been up to the challenge."
