Cougars Roll By The Master's

AZUSA, CALIF.-- The NAIA's No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific pushed its unbeaten streak to 35 in a row with an easy 10-0 victory over The Master's. The victory is Azusa Pacific's second straight 10-0 verdict over the Mustangs. The Cougars beat TMC by the same score in Azusa last year.

All-American midfielder Andrea Alfiler collected her first-ever hat-trick, scoring a pair of second-half to goal to notch the triple. Fellow All-Americans Missy Myers, Kendra Payne and Jennifer Babel all scored first-half goals along with Alfiler to push Azusa Pacific out to a 5-0 halftime lead.

Payne, the GSAC's top scorer, added another goal in the second half and assisted on 2 othes to give her 25 points on the season.

Freshmen Jennifer Sousa and Erin Ell also notched counters for Azusa Pacific. For Sousa, it was her first collegiate goal.

The overwhelmed Mustangs did not get a shot off the entire game. Meanwhile, Azusa Pacific peppered the Master's goal with 31 shots.

With the win, Azusa Pacific improves to 8-0-2 on the season and now sets itself for defense of its GSAC crown. The Cougars open GSAC play on Tuesday at Vanguard with a 7 p.m. game in Costa Mesa.
