FRESNO, Calif. — No. 38 Azusa Pacific men's tennis continued its strong late-season form Thursday afternoon, defeating Fresno Pacific 6–1 at the Haak Tennis Complex to improve to 19–5 on the season.
The Cougars set the tone early by claiming the doubles point. Viktor Van Craenenbroeck and David James Brownlee earned a 6–4 victory at No. 2, followed by Joan Crespo and Christopher Marci with another 6–4 win at No. 3 to clinch the point.
Azusa Pacific carried that momentum into singles, where the Cougars controlled five of six courts.
No. 24 Soeren Grandke led the charge at the top of the lineup with a commanding 6–3, 6–2 win at No. 1 singles. After Fresno Pacific picked up its lone point at No. 2, the Cougars responded with depth across the lineup.
David James Brownlee battled through a three-set match at No. 3, winning 7–6, 3–6, 6–2, while Joan Crespo followed with another three-set victory at No. 4, taking control in the final set.
Azusa Pacific continued to roll as Jacob Rudd-Hicks secured a straight-set win at No. 5, and Christopher Marci closed out the day with a three-set victory at No. 6 to complete the 6–1 result.
