SURPISE, Ariz. - Azusa Pacific advanced to the title match with a 4-1 victory over #4 seed Point Loma. The Cougars will be playing in their fifth straight Pacific West Conference title match, in their final opportunity, as they are moving to Division III next year.
Today, APU won the doubles point with 6-1 victories on courts one and three. In singles play,
David James Brownlee won 6-2, 6-2 on court three and
Soeren Grandke captured a win on the stadium court with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over
Stanislas Noel.
Point Loma earned a win on court four via
Marcos Alogo-Piqueras (6-2, 6-4), but at the same time the Cougars clinched the match on court five where
Joan Crespo won 7-6 (7-2), 6-1.
APU is now 20-4 and Point Loma moves to 8-11.
