Match Details

  • Matchup: Azusa Pacific vs. Tufts

  • Location: Munson & Bavougian Tennis Complex (Azusa, Calif.)

  • Time: 2:30 PM

Overview

Azusa Pacific returns to the court Wednesday afternoon for one of its toughest nonconference tests of the season, hosting No. 5-ranked Division III Tufts in a high-level interdivisional matchup.

The Cougars enter in dominant form, riding a nine-match winning streak and holding a perfect 9-0 record at home, while Tufts arrives with a 6-1 record and unbeaten mark on the road (3-0).

Despite competing at different NCAA levels, both programs bring national-caliber talent into what will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

Men's Preview: Streak Meets Strength

Azusa Pacific (13-4) has been one of the hottest teams in Division II, winning nine straight matches—eight of those via sweep—behind a lineup loaded with ranked talent and depth.

Leading the charge:

The Cougars are coming off a 7–0 sweep of Colorado Mesa, where they controlled doubles early and rolled through singles without dropping a point.

Tufts, however, presents a unique challenge. The Jumbos are ranked No. 5 nationally in Division III and have built their season on efficiency and strong road performances. While they haven't faced Division II depth like APU's, their ability to compete across all courts makes them a legitimate threat.

Key Match Factors

Doubles Point Battle
APU has consistently used doubles to seize early momentum. Against a disciplined Tufts squad, that early edge could prove decisive.

Top-of-Lineup Control

Momentum vs. Test
APU's dominant streak meets a Tufts team that has yet to be challenged on the road.
