Cougars Set for Second Doubleheader vs. Chaminade

Azusa Pacific returns to Cougar Softball Complex at 4 p.m. looking to break the deadlock after Tuesday’s split

AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific softball returns to the field Wednesday afternoon, hosting Chaminade for a 4:00 p.m. doubleheader at the Cougar Softball Complex after the two teams split Tuesday's twin bill.

The Cougars enter the day at 14-14 overall and 7-7 in PacWest play, sitting sixth in the conference standings, while Chaminade is 5-16 overall (4-8 PacWest) and ninth in the league.

Azusa Pacific and Chaminade split Tuesday's doubleheader in Azusa, with each team showcasing contrasting styles of victory.

The Cougars opened the day with a 6-0 shutout win, led by a dominant performance from Ava Hernandez, who allowed just three hits across seven innings. Offensively, Julia Doan and Hannah Tipton each homered as APU totaled 10 hits.

Chaminade responded in the nightcap with a 6-3 victory, recording 13 hits and capitalizing on a three-run fifth inning. The Cougars were held to four hits in the loss despite a solo home run from Tipton.
