AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific continued its dominant stretch Thursday afternoon, sweeping Fresno Pacific 7–0 at the Munson & Bayougian Tennis Complex to improve to 11–4 on the season.
The Cougars took early control in doubles play behind their nationally ranked tandem. Soeren Grandke and Mathys Pinoit, ranked No. 13 in Division II doubles, rolled to a 6–1 victory at No. 1 doubles to set the tone. Joan Crespo and Christopher Marci followed with a 6–3 win at No. 3, securing the doubles point while the match at No. 2 remained unfinished.
With momentum firmly in their favor, Azusa Pacific carried that energy into singles competition.
No. 15 Soeren Grandke led the way with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 1 singles. Mathys Pinoit followed with a strong 6–2, 7–5 win at No. 2, and David James Brownlee delivered another decisive performance at No. 3, winning 6–2, 6–3.
The Cougars continued to dominate down the lineup. Joan Crespo handled business at No. 4 with a 6–2, 6–1 win, while Jacob Rudd-Hicks added a straight-set victory at No. 6.
The most competitive match of the day came at No. 5 singles, where Ben Behrend rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat Joaquin Salinas 3–6, 6–0, 6–4, completing the sweep for Azusa Pacific.
