Cougars dominate from doubles through singles in 7–0 home victory at the Munson & Bayougian Tennis Complex.

AZUSA, Calif. — Azusa Pacific men's tennis continued its dominant stretch Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Western New Mexico 7–0 at the Munson & Bayougian Tennis Complex. The victory marks the Cougars' sixth consecutive sweep, highlighting their momentum as the spring season intensifies.

Azusa Pacific set the tone early in doubles play. The nationally ranked pairing of Soeren Grandke and Mathys Pinoit earned a convincing 6–2 victory at No. 1 doubles, quickly putting APU on the board. Christopher Marci and Sam Bergstrand followed with a 6–4 win at No. 3, securing the doubles point while the match at No. 2 remained unfinished.

The Cougars carried that momentum directly into singles play.

David James Brownlee was first off the court with a commanding 6–1, 6–1 win at No. 3 singles, and Mathys Pinoit followed with a 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 2. No. 15 Soeren Grandke then secured the clinching point at the top court, defeating his opponent 6–1, 6–4 to give APU the decisive fourth point.

Azusa Pacific continued to pile on wins across the lineup. Joan Crespo added a straight-set victory at No. 4, while Ben Behrend handled business at No. 6. The final match of the day came at No. 5, where Jacob Rudd-Hicks battled back after dropping the first set to win a dramatic super tiebreak and complete the sweep.
