This Looks Familiar

Cougars again control game against La Verne in convincing win.

LA VERNE, Calif. – The Cougars made it 2-for-2 this season against La Verne, downing the Leopards by a final score of 15-2 Saturday morning at Las Flores Pool.

How It Happened: The Cougars got the job done with a dominant defensive effort, holding the Leopards off the scoreboard for the entirety of the first half as they slowly pulled away.  Kohia Rego got the scoring started about two minutes into the game off a pass from Montana George.  George would later score on a feed from Bailey Hollick, and Hollick would complete the circle by scoring off a pass from Rego late in the first quarter, giving the Cougars a 4-0 lead at the end of the quarter.

Azusa Pacific would stretch that advantage to 7-0 early in the third before La Verne finally found the back of the net.  Daniela Herrero Miralles had a stellar effort, recording 12 saves while minding the net for the first three quarters.  The Cougars would shake off the tally, pulling away again with three consecutive goals to finish the third quarter with a 10-1 lead.  Audrey Dexter was the first to collect a hat trick on the day.  She would be joined on that stat by Hollick as part of a five-goal fourth quarter by the Cougars to close things out.
