AZUSA, Calif. — Behind a career night from Rachel Roderick and a relentless defensive effort, Azusa Pacific extended its winning streak to six games on Saturday morning with a commanding 89-64 victory over the Jessup Warriors at the Felix Event Center.
The Cougars (10-4, 6-1 PacWest) left little doubt from the opening tip, jumping out to a 30-18 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. Roderick was the centerpiece of the offensive explosion, finishing with a dominant 30 points and 10 rebounds. Her performance etched her name into the program's history books as she became the first Cougar to record a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double since Kelly Heimburger's legendary 39-point, 11-rebound outing against HPU on Jan. 20, 2025.
Roderick shot 11-of-19 from the field and was nearly perfect from the charity stripe, knocking down eight of her nine free throw attempts while adding three blocks and two steals to her stat line.
Jessup (4-10, 2-6 PacWest) was led by Claudia Jimenez, who scored 14 points off the bench, and Andheya Aurelio, who chipped in 12 points. However, the Warriors struggled to contain the Cougars' depth, as APU outscored Jessup 42-28 in the paint.
Audrey Sayoc also contributed for the Cougars with seven points and seven assists, while Nivia Glorioso added seven points and three rebounds in 18 minutes of action.
