AZUSA, Calif. — Sept. 26, 2025 — Azusa Pacific was unable to find its rhythm Friday night, falling in straight sets to Chaminade (20–25, 21–25, 14–25) at the Felix Event Center. The Cougars (5–5, 1–1 PacWest) were stifled by the Silverswords' balanced attack and tough blocking, while errors proved costly across all three sets.
The opening set was tightly contested early, with kills from
Flora Sebestyen and
Katelyn Sonnier keeping APU within striking distance. But a late Chaminade surge, fueled by Tabby Allen and Reina Krueger, pushed the visitors to a 25–20 win.
Set two saw the Cougars show more life offensively, with
Sarah Wilson and
Amanda Albertini finding success at the net.
Brooklyn Kostoff kept the attack varied with multiple hitters contributing, and APU stayed within one at 20–21. Yet Chaminade again closed strong, capitalizing on Cougar miscues to claim the set 25–21.
In the third, the Silverswords' defense took over. Chaminade held APU to a negative hitting percentage in the frame, using timely serving runs and five blocks to stifle any momentum. It managed just five kills in the set, as Chaminade secured the sweep 25–14.
