CLAREMONT, Calif. — Azusa Pacific continued its outdoor season with several strong showings at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, led by podium finishes in three field events and a top-10 sprint finish in a highly competitive 100-meter field.
Women's Pole Vault: Salazar Soars to Silver
Alexus Salazar cleared a season-best 3.65m to take
second place in the women's pole vault, once again proving her consistency as one of the top vaulters in the West Region. The true freshman has now placed in the top three in all of her appearances at Pomona Pitzer this season.
Women's Hammer Throw: Richardson Reaches the 50-Meter Mark
Junior
Hannah Richardson launched a throw of
50.36m to claim
second place in the women's hammer, cracking the 50-meter mark for the first time this spring and returning to Azusa with new personal best.
Men's Triple Jump: Walcott Lands on the Podium
Dejaun Walcott placed
third in the men's triple jump with a best mark of
13.58m, adding another solid result to his resume in his debut season with the Cougars. Walcott's performance was just shy of a season-best and continues to trend in the right direction.
Men's Discus Throw: Olson Places Fourth
Sophomore
Brett Olson secured a
fourth-place finish in the men's discus, throwing
47.30m. Olson has now finished top five in back-to-back meets, establishing himself as a consistent point scorer in the throws unit.
Women's 100m: Perkins Flashes Speed in Deep Field
Ashanti Perkins sprinted to a
sixth-place finish in the women's 100-meter dash, clocking
12.67 against a stacked field of
56 competitors. The performance marked the 13th top-ten finish of her career.
